Poem 24 – Hello Stranger

Hello stranger, shut behind blinds,
I know you by your shadow.
You remain in darkness, shut away from sight,
But why do you lie so low?
Do you fear me seeing into your life,
Are you ashamed to see the light?
I can’t answer these stranger,
And I doubt I’ll ever know.

***

Dear readers,
I have recently moved into my university accommodation, and having been here for nearly a week, and never having lived in a city (except when a baby), I find the way that the blinds are always shut very noticeable. It’s possible that another poem on these lines will appear – but I will say, I think I get why somebody opposite a student house might want their blind shut. I just think I’d miss the sunlight. Rather like the way I miss being able to see the ground from my window.
I hope that you enjoy the poetry,
The Hapless Neo-Romantic
