Poem 96 – Angels Fly

I know angels fly to be at your hand,
I know how they try to always be there,
And how I long to be there also,
But God how I know you will never care.

For with their wings they warmly embrace you,
In a way that I could never do,
And with their burning eyes you stand captivated,
And my blazing love, it cannot compare!

So taunt me angels,
Never let her be mine,
Though you might be divine, she always surpasses you.
You drink in praises, but I won’t stand amazed –
I have stood before her gaze.

Dear readers,

It’s been a while since I wrote a poem about angels. I hope that you like this one. Previously I wrote ‘To the Angels‘, which I quite enjoyed. ‘The Nature of Angels‘ and ‘A Dream for Mortal Men’ are perhaps the two other poems about angels that I like the most of those I’ve uploaded. But in general, I’m just a fan of imagery involving angels.
