Poem 243 – We Walked Away

The cherubim descended

Milton, Paradise Lost, Book XII, 628

We walked away and the angels sang,
As we wandered, knowing our woe
Was yet to pursue us further still,
And the angels would aid us no more.
Behind, the cherubim descended;
Before, eternity awaits.

Dear readers,

This is the penultimate poem based on Paradise Lost. Next time, expect much slush in this posting. The angels descend to secure Eden, and Adam and Eve must leave – and so, soon, must I.

Kind regards,

The Hapless Neo-Romantic
